It was a busy year for the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation and we have so much to be grateful for. From completing the third Summer of Kindness, celebrating our fifth annual ICU Awards, to raising over $80,000 at our charity golf tournament, there was never a dull moment for the Kindness Crew! Here are just a handful of our special moments from 2023:

5.18 Day
Over 30 Sunmark volunteers participated in 5.18 Day, the largest day of community impact in the Capital Region. Locations included the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area in Albany, and Schenectady Community Ministries’ (SICM) community garden at the Historic Vale Cemetery in Schenectady. Office Games
Our "Office Games" event raised over $1,500 for the Special Olympics of New York. Staff donated for the chance to compete against each other in various games including golf, indoor bowling, "equestrian" and more! For an additional donation, staff also had the opportunity to show their support for Special Olympics by wearing a "Sunmark Supports Special Olympics" t-shirt.

ICU Day Awards
We celebrated our 5th Annual ICU Day Awards with a reception at Ellms' Farm in Ballston Spa. Donating $20,000 to area non-profits, the Foundation continued their committment to recognizing organizations and people that help foster the credit union philosophy of people helping people. Polar Plunge
"Freezin' for a Reason". Staff ran into the frigid waters of Lake George, taking part in the Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics of New York. See a video of the Sunmark Squad running into the water in the comments of our Facebook post here.

Birthday Bags
During a Kindness Workshop, preschoolers arranged 100 Birthday Party bags to donate to local food pantries. Find out more about our effort to bring brighter birthdays to local communities here.

Golf Tournament
Sunmark Credit Union's 23rd annual charity golf tournament raised over $80,000 to benefit the Sunmark Foundation. Click here to read more on our sold-out event.

Summer of Kindness
Our 3rd Summer of Kindness commenced in May with KIPP Schools students decorating recycling bins to help keep their community clean. Check it out here.
